“Heritage restored, comfort reimagined”
A 12-room boutique heritage stay within a restored 19th-century Nagercoil mansion in Thirunelveli district. The project negotiates the tension between preservation and contemporary hospitality — retaining the original Athangudi tile floors, carved teak screens, and courtyard proportions while introducing quiet, modern comfort into every suite.
Concept
The Architectural Idea
The building knew what it wanted to be. Our role was to listen. The original structure had a logic — a procession from the public verandah through the formal hall to the private courtyard — and we followed that logic without breaking it. Every new element was designed to be legible as new, so the original fabric is never obscured. Heritage and the present, in clear conversation.
