“A dialogue between courtyard and sky”
Set within a quiet residential enclave on the Chennai East Coast Road, Casa Meridian is a contemporary villa that reimagines the relationship between interior and exterior living. Generous verandas and a central open courtyard create a layered transition between the private world inside and the tropical landscape beyond.
Concept
The Architectural Idea
The design began with one question: how does a building breathe in Chennai's climate? We organised the plan around a central courtyard — an ancient device, used here in a contemporary language. Natural ventilation drives every decision: the deep overhangs, the shaded corridors, the way each room opens to a garden rather than a wall. The home does not fight the heat. It is designed around it.
